Why is exfoliation sooo important?

When a cell is formed in the basal skin layer.....it is perfectly plump and round, full of moisture - like a grape!

As it travels to the top of the skin (or the Epidermal layer) it becomes flattened and dead - dry without collagen, elastin or moisture...so it begins to look like a raisin....then ultimately a corn flake.  As a child, this journey from grape to corn flake takes about 30 days.  As we get older, this "process" significantly slows down, ultimately to 60 or 90 days.  This is why skin can look dull/dry.  This is why exfoliation is so important!
